What is the Value Package?
The Value Package is a special offer tailored by Expatrio for students coming to Germany. The package includes all the services that are needed for a student to get a visa and then come to Germany prepared. Apart from being a holistic offer that takes a lot of burden off the students' shoulders, the Value Package is also extremely cost-efficient.
What are the benefits of the Value Package?
Firstly, the Value Package allows you to order everything within only one application. The information you provide once is automatically transferred to all the products that you get. Secondly, by ordering the Value Package you save a lot of money as many of the products come for free. Finally, each of the products included bears own unique benefits.
What is the Blocked Account for Free ("BFF") campaign?
We offer a free Blocked Account in the Value Package for applications submitted in July - October 2023 (CET). This means that on top of the €49 cashback from the standard Value Package you will also get the €5 monthly Blocked Account service fee back if you meet the requirements of this campaign. This means a total of €109 discount for a 12-month Blocked Account for example!
How and when do I receive my BFF cashback?
In order to receive the cashback of BFF campaign, you need to activate the mandatory products of the Value Package via your Expatrio User Portal.
Once all the products are activated, a cashback of €109 will be credited upfront to your current account. We then debit the €49 setup fee and service fee of €5 per month (€109 in total). Hence, you don't pay anything for your Blocked Account. We just deduct our fees from our €109 cashback that Expatrio credited upfront to your account. No more fees, no more hassle.
Please note that the cashback depends on the duration of your blocked account. If you open the blocked account for 12 months, you will receive €49 + 12*€5 (= €109 cashback) upfront. If you open the blocked account for 6 months, you will receive €49 + 6 * €5 (= €79 cashback) upfront.
What are the requirements of the BFF campaign?
You are eligible for the €49 + monthly service fee cashback if you meet the below requirements: apply for the Value Package between the beginning of 30th June to 31st October 2023 midnight (CET) and activate both your Blocked Account and health insurance until 30 June 2024 (CET).
What if I applied before July 2023?
- If you already applied for the Value package before July 2023 unfortunately you are not eligible for the BFF cashback.1 You will still get your €49 cashback though when both your Blocked Account and health insurance become live and may be eligible for TK-Flex cashback.2
- If you already applied for an Expatrio Blocked Account before July 2023, but did not apply for health insurance via Expatrio and did not transfer funds to your Blocked Account yet, you can still get this discount. All you have to do is upgrade to the Value package under the Upgrade or Add New Products section on your Expatrio user portal and get your health insurance too via Expatrio.
- If you already applied for health insurance via Expatrio before July 2023 but did not apply for a Blocked Account and did not activate your health insurance yet you can still get this discount. All you have to do is upgrade to the Value package under the Upgrade or Add New Products section on your Expatrio user portal and get your Blocked Account too via Expatrio.
What is TK-Flex?
TK-Flex is an optional tariff that allows you to opt out of certain health insurance services as part of your TK health insurance coverage. In return, you receive cashback for every service you opt out of. You can choose to opt out of a maximum of five services out of seven. You can find more information on our TK-Flex page.
How can I take part in TK-Flex?
Simply click the link in your TK health insurance confirmation email from Expatrio which will bring you to the TK website where you can customize your health insurance coverage. You will also be informed of your TK cashback amount through TK based on your individual selection of coverage.
What is included in the €309 savings with the Expatrio Value Package?
If you apply for the Value Package by the 31st of October 2023, you can save up to €309*. These include:
- up to €109 cashback on all blocked account fees
- up to €90 TK-Flex cashback
- up to €95 worth of travel health insurance
- up to €15 ISIC card

[1] Blocked Account for free (the “BFF Campaign”) is a special offer for all customers who apply for the Value Package as well as customers who upgrade to the Value Package between 30th June to 31st October 2023. To avail of the cashback, eligible customers in the BFF Campaign have to successfully activate their health insurance coverage with DR-WALTER or Techniker Krankenkasse. The total cashback is limited to a maximum of €49 set-up fee + 12 times the monthly service fee (i.e. €49 setup fee + 12 months * €5 monthly service fee = €109 cashback). [2] TK-Flex is an elective tariff and only available for eligible TK health insurance customers. Once the TK membership is activated, TK-Flex can commence. Expatrio will provide the customer with detailed guidelines on how to do this. Within TK-Flex, users have the option to deselect/opt out of services they do not need. In return, there is a cashback bonus of up to €90 per year. However, if the services are needed after all, TK customers can reactivate their health insurance coverage by paying a deductible of €24 per service (up to €120) per year.
